Welcome to my very first gift guide!
Now let me be upfront with you: gift guides are something that I’ve struggled with. I’m not a fan of a gift guide that is just a bunch of random items, links and some pictures. Like, why should I buy this? Just because you say so?! My momma raised me to be a little bit more skeptical than that, girlfriend. So please provide me with some reasons!
I also hate gift guides that feature over-priced crap. No MA’AM I will not be buying a $400 scarf have you lost your *actual* mind?!
So if you’re anything like me, then this gift guide is for you. This is the girl boss gift guide for people who usually hate gift guides. Click To Tweet
This post contains affiliate links. Say what?! It means if you make a purchase by clicking on one of my links, I will receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you. This helps me bring you more exciting content!
This Girl Boss Gift Guide:
- is full products that I actually find useful, organized by category
- has a detailed description of each item (because a good girl boss questions every purchase)
- includes a suggestion on what type of girl boss/situation this gift is good for and
- exclusively features gifts under $70, with most being well under $50 (because I’m all living life affordably)
Books – For the Inquisitive Girl Boss
Let’s start off with books, shall we? I think reading and educating yourself is one of the most important things you can do as a growing boss babe. Why? Because fostering an inquisitive mind makes you a better writer, blogger, businesswoman, and person. It inspires you to see the world differently, and it keeps you thinking innovatively. Feeling stagnant in the growth of your business? Pick up one of these books and I promise you’ll learn something new that will inspire you all over again!
GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso – Let’s just start with the obvious. This wouldn’t be a girl boss gift guide if I didn’t mention the quintessential girl boss book…aptly titled #GIRLBOSS (I promise I won’t use this many “girl boss”es in the same sentence again). This is one of those books that is just great to read when you need to hear that someone else struggled but made it through it successfully. 10/10 would recommend.
The Girlboss Workbook: An Interactive Journal for Winning at Life by Sophia Amoruso – Now this is something you might not have heard of yet. A girl boss workbook from no other than the girl boss queen herself – Sophia Amoruso. Now based on me flipping through this and reading reviews, I’d recommend this for the younger, beginner girlboss in your life. You know that niece or daughter that you see some fire within but isn’t quite ready for a full on lesson on SEO or building a powerful, women-owned business in a male dominated world? Yeah. This one’s for her.
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero – This is one of those books that I read before I would even consider myself a bossbabe. It’s that book that everyone recommends for getting your ish together and believing in yourself. And they ain’t lying when they say it’s a good one. This is for the girl that is dealing with some imposter syndrome and needs a good kick in the pants to start believing in her greatness again.
Fascinate, Revised and Updated: How to Make Your Brand Impossible to Resist by Sally Hogshead – This book was seriously eye-opening when I was figuring out how to rebrand my blog. A good portion of the book breaks down success stories of brands with an unusual story. But my favorite part is when Sally breaks down the seven branding advantages, and shows you how to use your brand to, well, your advantage! Great choice for the rising girlboss who is ready to kick her business up a notch.
I Am That Girl: How to Speak Your Truth, Discover Your Purpose, and bethatgirl by Alexis Jones – oh girl. This book holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of those books that just full of wisdom from some many amazing women that it’s hard to pinpoint a favorite moment. This is one of those books for the girl that needs a saying or story for every situation. It’s organized in such a way that you can read it in order, or you can flip through and find what theme resonates with you the most that day.
Photography- For the Creative Girl Boss
Something about taking my own photos makes me feel like a real badass/rockstar, and it brings a different level of authenticity and ownership to my blog that I don’t think I’d have otherwise. Now I know, I know – taking your own photos isn’t for everyone! But if you’re the type of girl boss that likes to take her own photos (*raises both hands high in the sky*) then this section is for you!
Popsockets – POPSOCKETS CHANGED. MY. LIFE. Ever see someone with a suction cup looking thing attached to the back of their phone and you’re like who is this fool and what’s that on their phone? Well that fool is probs me, and that thing is a popsocket. It’s a little contraption that sticks to your phone that acts as a grip, a stand, and a wrap.
My favorite part is how easy it makes it to get next level photos and videos! Pop it out and use it to have more grip and control over your phone when you’re taking flatlays. Use it as a stand for when you need to take an insta but need both hands. And then pop it back in when you’re done!
These little guys are so versatile, and are definitely for the boss babe who is working on a budget but is looking to up her photography game.
Eocean 54-Inch Selfie Stick Tripod with Bluetooth Remote – Ok let me tell you something. I hated selfie sticks. Seriously I didn’t understand them. But now that I’m blogging…I get it. Now this is *technically* a selfie stick. But it’s also a tripod. With a bluetooth remote. So as long as you have a phone with bluetooth capabilities, you can plug this set this puppy up and take your own photos like nobody’s watching…because nobody has to be watching.
Seriously I took this thing on a solo vacation and took some pretty bomb pictures if I do say so myself. The remote is small enough that it can be easily concealed in photos so you can be in A+ stealth mode. This is for the rising boss babe looking to kick her photography up several notches.
Motivational Prints – If you read my Quick and Easy Positivity Hacks post, you know I’m a sucker for motivational images (in fact there’s 7 free ones in that post!). And I also love supporting small artists. Which is why I love Society 6 so much. You get to shop small and there’s so many motivational products to choose from!
Now you may be wondering why this is in photography. Here’s why: because as a blogger who takes her own photos, I’m always looking for cheap, motivational, on-brand things to include in my shoots. Sometimes you just need a little something extra in the background of a picture. Or your flatlay is just missing that little extra touch. These are for the girl boss who is looking for a motivational touch to her photos, blog, and life.
Organization – For the Type A Girl Boss
Are you a chronic list maker? Do you have not 1, not 2, but 3 or more lists going at any given time? Do you obsess over planners and journals? Well then BUCKLE UP BOSS BABE because this section’s for you!
The 2018 Content Planner – Blogging is a lot. Like a lot a lot a lot. It’s not just the posts. It’s the social media. It’s promoting the posts. It’s collaborating with other bloggers and pitching to brands and building a community and shoot, I should probably respond to some comments and WHAT ABOUT AN EBOOK?! (Which hint hint – I’ve got one coming in Jan. 2018 so get your *hearts* ready).
That’s where the Content Planner comes in. The Content Planner is for the girl boss that doesn’t like to leave success to chance and would rather plan for it. It was created by the oh-so-wonderful Kat Gaskin and was made specifically for bloggers, influencers, and entrepreneurs. Inside you’re able to plan out your goals for the month. You can schedule out your posts and social media content all on one layout, which I use to make sure I’m not focusing too much on one topic or platform (although Twitter will always be bae sorry not sorry). You can even plan out your hashtags and it comes with social media and blogging related stickers! Like c’mon that’s awesome.
Want one for free? I’m giving one away to one of you! Check out the giveaway to learn how to enter! The Content Planner is for the girlboss that plans for success rather than leaving it to chance. Click To Tweet
My Google Sheets Content Calendar – Not a write it down type of gal? That’s cool that’s cool. Then check out my Google Sheets Content Calendar. This is where I plan out all of my blog posts on the long-term. There’s titles, post dates, categories, monetization ideas, notes, and even room to track emails.
If you’re they type of girl that likes to plan on the go and have your calendar at your digital fingertips, then my FREE Content Calendar is for you! Check it out by signing up for my Resource Library. It’s totally free, and you’ll get an all-access pass to all of my freebies, including my Self Care Workbook and Blog Business Plan Workbook.
I Am a Feminist 2018 Daily Calendar: Quotes That Empower – Ok last calendar suggestion, I promise! I just couldn’t pass up on suggesting this one! If you’re the type of bossbabe that likes some organization but not too much organization, then you def need a monthly calendar. Simple and to the point, but this one has a little sass that’ll tug at your feminist heartstrings.
What To Get Done (So I Can Have a Drink) Pad – Fun fact about me: these Knock Knock products were all the rage during my first couple years of college. Probs because they take a light hearted approach to getting ish done. If you’re a to-do list person that appreciates some sass, then this notepad (and really all their products) is for you!
Apparel – For the Loud and Proud Girl Boss
Ahh yes. The girl boss who is not afraid to shout from the rooftops: I’m a badass and I don’t care who knows it! Or for the girl boss who is a badass at heart, but would rather wear it on her sleeve than voice it. One word: apparel.
Shop Luella – Oh boy oh boy oh boy. This place is too cute. I found it through Instagram (as I find most things), and it’s run by a local Austin, TX boss @carokolbe. She sells clothing, hats, pins, stickers, etc. for women with a mission of spreading female empowerment, self love and body positivity. Aka it’s everything I’m trying to do with this blog, but in an online store aka I LOVE IT. I pretty much spend everyday trying to decide between the “Sisterhood is Powerful” t-shirt or the “Introvert Girl Gang” sweatshirt. Check them out if you like supporting small, women-owned business, have a heart for female empowerment, or if you wear clothes.
Totes/Bags – Now let’s get a bit practical shall we? If you’re like me, then you are carrying around a minimum of 5 different items at any given time. Laptop, mouse, the notebook for blog notes, the notebook for meal planning, pens, the notebook that is cute but you haven’t decided what to use it for yet but let’s just bring it just in case…it goes on and on. THAT’S WHY YOU NEED A TOTE! Pick one of these to be the girl boss that walks into a room and people automatically know that she means business.
Blogger Burnout – For the “F*$~ This I Need a Break!!” Girl Boss
Woah there girlfriend. Put the fifth cup of coffee down. I know how hard it can be to step away from your passions. You’ve got a fire in your belly, but don’t let that fire get out of control and burn the whole forest down! Take a break. Here’s how:
Focus Booster – serious shoutout to Sheila from In Search of Sheila for this suggestion. It has changed the game for me, not only with my side hustle but with work at my job too! It’s a website/app that uses the pomodoro method to help you focus and build breaks into your day. Basically, you set a timer for how long you want to work, it runs in the background and then beeps when it’s time to step away.
The real perk for me though is being able to track what you’re working on! You can create “clients” (mine are blog posts, newsletters, social media, freebies/products, etc.) to track how much time you spend on certain tasks and projects. It’s a great way for me to manage my time, and see what works for me and my blog! Did I spend more time on social media one week and see a lot more conversions? Or maybe I spent more time on my email that week and saw a higher click-thru rate? This is a great option for the girlboss who likes analytics but also needs to be reminded to chill out sometimes.
In My Humble Opinion Inner-Truth Journal – Another Knock Knock product! (I’m only mildly obsessed I promise.) But this one is worth it because it’s like a slam book…but without the rudeness of an actual slam book. Sometimes blogging can be hard on the mental health. I mean, you’re putting yourself, your life, your writing, your style – you!- out into the world for people to inspect. And with inspection usually comes some judgement.
If you’re the type of bossbabe that needs a place to write it out so that you don’t go off on that one Rude Randy that continues to troll every IG post, then please – check out this journal.
Target Candles – Oh candles candles candles. You are the way to my heart. And I have honestly not found a better selection of candles than the ones at Target. Yes, I know Yankee Candle has a wider selection, but Target has better prices. And price trumps all in the world of this girl boss. My fav scents?: Cozy Flannel, Hickory Hearth, and Oh Christmas Tree. These are definitely for the cold weather loving girl who thrives on some quiet time to get her mind right after a long night of blogging. Pluuuus these look excellent in flatlays I’m just throwing that out there.
And there you have it boss babe – gifts galore. Now please excuse me while I go hide my debit card so I don’t buy all of these.
